- Additional declaration on the phytosanitary certificate that:
- The country of production is free from
- Trogoderma granarium
- The peanuts were laboratory tested and found free from
- Thecaphora frezii
- The consignment is visually free from soil and plant debris.
- The country of production is free from
- The consignment should be packed in clean, new packaging material.
- The importer shall:
- Provide details of storage facilities at which the consignment is to be delivered, prior to the release of the consignment;
- Ensure that all recipients declare (on their company letterheads) the receipt of their part of the consignment;
- Collect all declarations from individual recipients;
- Deliver declarations as per 3 (b) and 3 (c) above to the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) – Inspection Services for record keeping, traceability, and reconciliation purposes;
- Keep records of the peanuts (stock) flow until all is processed and present to DALRRD upon request (i.e. an audit trail per vessel from the prescribed port of entry until all peanuts are processed);
- Ensure that DALRRD is immediately informed by the processing facilities, or clearing agent should a truck/rail transporting peanuts get involved in an accident and spillage occur; and
- Peanuts resulting from such a spillage shall be cleared off the road/ground within 12 hours. The cleared peanuts shall be destroyed immediately;
- Failure to comply with the above prescribed requirements may result in the consignment being rejected in terms of the Agricultural Pests Act, 1983 (Act No.36).
